homesick when you're there
Buttons, the small black kitten sits on the arm of the couch and tentatively he looks around. Buttons, the soft black kitten stretches, yawns and mews. Buttons the lonely black kitten who still remembers yesterday and mother cat and warm milk. Buttons, the sweet black kitten, who doesn't know he's home.

around again
Goal time rolls around each year. About now. Rolls by and beyond me. I thought I would catch it once, practice dribbling, do a slam dunk! I thought.

Likewise
Like life beneath deep waters,
Light above leaved canopies,
Salvation in the belly of a whale;
Like abundant flour and oil,
Manna in the wilderness
Two fish, five loaves, twelve baskets;
Like blossoms in the desert,
An alter in the lone and dreary world,
Like Egypt, A refuge, a refuge;
Like hen-gathered chicks,
Sheep securely folded,
Calm sails on a turbulent sea;
Like a straight and narrow path,
A rod of iron,
The true and constant Star.
Light above leaved canopies,
Salvation in the belly of a whale;
Like abundant flour and oil,
Manna in the wilderness
Two fish, five loaves, twelve baskets;
Like blossoms in the desert,
An alter in the lone and dreary world,
Like Egypt, A refuge, a refuge;
Like hen-gathered chicks,
Sheep securely folded,
Calm sails on a turbulent sea;
Like a straight and narrow path,
A rod of iron,
The true and constant Star.

cold
In darkness blows the wicked wind; in blackness cold is seeping in. Unseen, the chilly breeze blows by; it carries frosted lullabies. At night I feel the cold.
